SF-HD4 laser optic
We must know that this common laser reader mounted in OEM original navigators such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Porsche, has ceased to be manufactured, at least for now, by Sanyo, giving way to newer mechanical assemblies that are more modern, faster, and more reliable.
We have to be very careful if we are looking for the original reader because there are several types, and the one we really need is becoming extinct, with barely any units left that can serve our navigators.
It is important to consider the adjustable trimmer potentiometers, both of which must be present, and the casing that covers the coils should preferably be black. Those that come with white casing do not usually provide very accurate results, as their adjustments are optimized for another class of mechanics.

Our technical repair department for this type of equipment has been able to verify that an optical unit with similar characteristics but with a difference in the flexible cable works perfectly and is 100% compatible with the original; we have named it SF-HD4 Bent.

If we install this new optics directly onto the mechanics, it will work correctly, but since the flat cable is longer and has the curve in its outermost part, it rubs against the disc, causing circular scratches and rendering it unusable after a few days of operation.
We have conducted multiple checks and functionality tests and even several installation methods, since the flat cable has a significant difference from the original, and care must be taken during installation. However, it remains very easy to install. The idea is to shorten the excess length of the flexible cable and achieve parallelism of the wire during the reader's movement along the guides.
You can find the replacement optics at the following link.
We also include a video of one of the installation methods for this new replacement optics.
